In loving memory / of / Inglis de Lisle Pollard-Lowsley / Lieutenant Royal Artillery / Elder Son of Lt Colonel B Lowsley RE / of Hampstead Norreys. / He died of Enteric Fever at Middleburg / South Africa on Feby 26th 1901 aged 25 years. / He was selected for Maxim Gun duty and / took part in all battles and actions fought against/ the Boers during General Bullers's advance / from Natal to Lydenburg. / He was loved and respected by his brother-Officers / and by his soldiers and received the highest / commendation from those under whom he served. / His General and every Officer at Middleburg / follow him to his grave and a Marble Cross / is erected there. / “Faithful unto death.” / Revelation Chap II Ver 10
