Berkshire War Memorials
The Forbury Oak was planted on the 19th July 1919 as part of Reading's Peace Celebrations, by the Mayoress. It had been grown from an acorn picked up on the battlefield of Verdun.
The Commemorative Plaque (WM7024)
The plaque was originally attached to the tree but is now in Reading Museum
